Timing and commitment
Taking on this challenge requires commitment, dedication, and time – but it’s a rewarding, life-changing journey like no other. Registrations open on 16 June and close at the end of July. The event officially launches in October, which is when the six-month training program begins. Ride Week will be held from 24 to 28 March 2026.
Training overview
Training for the Hawaiian Ride for Youth officially begins in October and is managed by Trench Health and Fitness. The six-month training program ensures all riders are physically prepared for the 700km journey from Albany to Perth. This includes twice weekly morning training sessions, Saturday rides, time trials, and more. It’s a lot of early mornings – but we promise it’s worth it.
Fundraising
Each rider is required to raise $5,000. Support from a dedicated fundraising committee is available to help you reach this goal. Riders achieve their targets through various forms of fundraising, including hosting events, raffles and more. Check out the available resources and guides here.
About the cause
The Hawaiian Ride for Youth raises funds and awareness for Youth Focus – a leading mental health provider that has been supporting the wellbeing of young people in the Western Australian community since 1994. Find out more here.
School visits
During Ride Week, each of the three peloton stops at around 5 regional schools during the journey to engage with students, talk about mental health, and raise awareness of the support available through Youth Focus. In advance of Ride Week, some riders choose to volunteer to share their story as a school presenter – Youth Focus supports each school presenter to develop and craft their story so that it’s tailored for the school they’re presenting at, the age of the students, and the needs of the community.
Who can participate in the ride?
The Hawaiian Ride for Youth welcomes riders of varying experience levels, as long as they are committed to training and fundraising. A reasonable level of fitness and a strong team spirit are key.
What support is provided during the Ride?
The event costs $1,600 to participate. This contributes towards the logistical costs of taking part in training and Ride Week – including transport, accommodation, meals, training, insurance, kit, and more.
What kind of bike do I need?
A high-quality road bike is required. Specific bike recommendations and fitting advice will be provided for those who require it during the lead-up and training phase.
Can I join as a volunteer or support crew instead of a rider?
Yes! Volunteers and support crew play a vital role in making the event a success. For more information on how to get involved, please connect with our team using the form below.
