This is my 3rd participation in the Hawaiian Ride For Youth, having completed my first in March 2023, along with last year, all with Team Buswest.
The training is grueling, but the fun of ride week makes it worthwhile. Nothing compares to completing the 700km journey, especially when greeted by cheering crowds at UWA. It’s a moment that proves even the toughest can be moved to tears.
Throughout summer and during ride week in March, our goal is to raise awareness and funds supporting youth mental health. The message is simple: seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. That’s true for young people and adults alike.
As a lifelong cycling enthusiast, the Hawaiian Ride for Youth is a cause I’m proud to support. It demands early mornings, hard training, and far too much time behind others in lycra—but it’s worth it.
Crossing the finish line is rewarding, but hitting the $5,000 fundraising target matters more. If you value reducing mental health stigma and helping install counsellors in under-resourced regional schools, please consider contributing.
Thanks for your support,
Simon
