This is my first Hawaiian Ride for Youth ride so getting up at 4am, three days a week to train hard with fellow riders and adding in extra rides when I can has been a shock to the system - and that’s all before the big ride from Albany even starts!
The cause for which we are riding, however, is an important one.
Most, if not all, of us are affected by mental health issues either directly or indirectly. Our family is not an exception and mental health issues continue to challenge us. While we have been able to access services to help navigate these issues, many families don’t have easy and affordable access and many are just simply not aware of how to access such services.
The HRFY raises funding for youth mental health services through Youth Focus and will stop at many schools during the ride to raise awareness of these services.
