Perth Ultra Cyclist Jack Thompson to set Multiple Guinness World Records

Go Back

Perth Ultra Cyclist, Jack Thompson, is set to break another TWO Guinness World Records on 29 December as he achieves the ultimate challenge of climbing 1,000,000 meters and Everesting 52 times in one calendar year. In addition to this, he’s raised in excess of $400,000 for mental health charities throughout the year.

Jack is a professional Australian athlete who in recent years has set the standard for and explored the boundaries of Ultra Cycling. During 2020, Jack set the world record for most kilometres ridden in one week (more than 3,500km) and in 2021 set the record for the fastest ever completion of the Tour de France (10 days.)

As of 27 December 2022, Jack has ridden a total of 29,678 kilometers and climbed 999,000 meters in 2022. More than double the elevation of any other professional rider in the world.  Jack will complete the 1,000,000th meter of climbing on Reabold Hill in Bold Park on 29 December 2022, and you’re invited!

On 29 December, joined by participants of Youth Focus’s event, the Hawaiian Ride for Youth, Jack will cycle his final five laps up Reabold Hill. The record finale will begin at Wembley Cycles at 8:30am, with riders returning to Wembley Cycles for refreshments and media opportunities at 9:30am.

Spectators are invited to view the finale from the vantage point at Reabold Hill from 8:45am onwards. Hawaiian Ride for Youth will receive a generous $5,000 donation from Jack, plus any other funds raised on the day for this record-breaking feat.
